Almost all well known universities in Ontario have professors of Romanian origin. ACRUPO is an association of Canadian university professors from Ontario of Romanian descent who by reinforcing university relations with Romania wish to promote and share academic values. Furthermore, throughout a series of socio-cultural activities ACRUPO is intended to disseminate Romanian culture and heritage in the Province of Ontario and help forge academic links with Romania. It will also establish, promote and maintain ties with other North American associations and groups (e.g. American-Romanian Academy (ARA), Romanian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce (RCCC), etc.) as well as many Romanian organizations (e.g. Romanian Academy, Romanian Cultural Foundation (RCF), Romanian Minister of External Affairs, etc.)
ACRUPO is an independent, non governmental, non political, non profit organization and is part of the civic society.
ACRUPO is registered as a non profit corporation in Ontario, with registration number 1608069.
The organizational structure of ACRUPO is composed of the general assembly and the executive council which is elected by the general assembly. The executive council elects the President and two Vice Presidents of ACRUPO (one is in charge with the web site of the association); who assumes the responsibilities of daily activities of the association. If an Executive Council member is not responding within 3 days to a proposal, one considers that he/she agrees (qui tacet consentire videtur).
