Din Strainataturi
Teiule cu frunza deasa,
Dor m-apuca, dor ma lasa
Doru-m-ni de mars acasa,
Dar streinii nu ma lasa…
Pasarica di pi coasta,
Zboara la mama-n fereastra
Si fa vant cu aripa
Si sa-i potoli lumina
De tri urari pan-a cina,
Sa vad iei cum i-a placea,
Ca la mine streinea
Sa vad iei cum i-a ticni,
Ca la mine streinii.
From Abroad
Linden tree with leaflets teaming,
Longings seize me, longings leave me
Longing to be home again
But those streangers don’t release me…
Birdie from the greenest willow,
Fly to my old mother’s window,
As wild winds, flutter thy wings,
Blow out her lamp light while she prays
Three time before to dine she leaves,
Let’s see whether she likes the dark
The way I like the stranger’s heart,
Let’s see if she enjoys the night
The way I love the strangers, sight.
