De-as muri primavara
De-as muri primavara,
Pasarele m-ar canta,
Randunelele m-or duce
Si cucu mi-ar pune cruce
Dintr-o creanga de mar dulce
Si mierla mi-ar da pomana,
Daca n-am tata si mama.
In the spring if I could die
In the sping if I could die
Birds would sing and chirp and fly,
My coffin,- carried by swallows,
With the cross, the cuckoo’d follow,
Cross of apple tree branch, mellow,
The blackbird would offer you dinner
As I had neither father nor mother.
